Pocket Lab for Android privacy policy
Updated 23 October 2026. This policy describes Pocket Lab for Android, provided by Skarveo, and information you choose to send us for support.
Narration on your phone
Pocket Lab prepares narration on your phone. Your books and generated audio are not uploaded to a narration service. You do not need a Pocket Lab account, and the app has no advertising or tracking features.
Your library
The app stores imported books, extracted text, covers, reading positions, Reading or Finished status, and Bedtime bookmarks locally. Preferences, such as appearance and text size, are also saved on this phone.
Generated narration is kept in a local audio cache. Older audio is removed as the 500 MiB cache fills. You can clear a book’s audio without deleting the book.
Backups and system features
Your library and preferences are eligible for Android backup and device transfer, depending on your system settings, provider and backup limits. Restoring is managed by Android and is not guaranteed. Pocket Lab does not provide its own cloud library sync.
Generated audio, installed narration model copies, import staging files, diagnostics and temporary share files are excluded from app backups and device transfer. Your file provider may need internet access to download the original EPUB before import. Book and chapter information appears in Android’s media controls.
Local diagnostics
Local diagnostics help investigate playback problems. They record event times, book identifiers, reading positions, generation and playback timings, buffering, battery and temperature information, and whether the app was in the background. They do not contain book text, titles, authors or generated audio.
Book identifiers and listening times can reveal reading activity; diagnostics are not anonymous. They are not automatically sent to the developer. Share diagnostics opens Android’s share sheet, where you choose whether and where to send the file.
Diagnostics are kept for up to seven days, with a 5 MB limit. Older records are removed when the app next opens, records an event or prepares a share file. Use Delete diagnostics in Settings or Listening details to remove them sooner; new activity can create new records. Temporary export files and read grants are cleared after returning from sharing or on the next app launch. Copies you have already shared are managed separately.
Contacting support
If you email Skarveo, your email address, message and any attachments are sent through your email provider and our support email services. Include only what is needed to explain the problem. The seven-day limit applies to diagnostics on your phone, not copies you send by email. For questions about information you have shared, contact support@skarveo.com.
We use support correspondence to respond to your request and investigate the problem. We keep it while needed to handle your request and related follow-up. You can contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you have sent. Skarveo cannot remotely access or delete your local library.
Removing your data
Delete a book from its library menu to remove its local copy, saved progress, Bedtime bookmark and audio. The original EPUB in your file provider is kept. Clearing saved audio removes only narration.
Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage in Android Settings removes local app data. Backups, original files and copies you have shared are managed separately through the relevant service or device settings.
Website and external services
Visiting skarveo.com or sending email uses internet services separately from offline narration. Our website hosting and email providers process the connection and message information needed to deliver those services. These pages do not send your Pocket Lab library or listening history to the website. Your chosen file, email, backup or sharing provider handles information under its own terms and privacy practices.
Questions and updates
For privacy questions, email support@skarveo.com. If the app’s data handling changes, we will update this page and its date.
